About Shawn
Meet Shawn Matthews, who established Matthews Roofing in Delray Beach, FL in 2020. He is a Licensed Roofing Contractor and former Materials Stress Test Engineer for ATS, where he honed his technical skills and developed an understanding for quality assurance. Shawn attended the University of West Georgia where he studied Physics and ran Cross Country and Track.
“I read “The Jungle” in HS. It was a story of European immigrants in Chicago chasing the American Dream. No matter how hard the characters worked, they could never get out of the debt cycle associated with the payments on their constantly deteriorating homes. They would never have anything to pass on except debt. While looking in around my home at the time, I realized that my family was in the same boat. I thought of how wonderful it could be if our homes lasted and families could spend that income on things like education, trips, or anything else at all.
Thinking the problem was materials related, I felt fortunate to be employed to conduct Environmental Simulations such as accelerated weather tests. After learning about the rigorous standards that our building materials are held to I ventured over to the workmanship side of things in contracting. Although full of wonderful people, the contracting industry is plagued by many challenges. This set of difficulties, however, is an amazing opportunity for improvement. I’ve been lucky enough to see that slow or small improvements in the most crucial areas can eventually make an enormous difference in the happiness of both the skilled laborers and the recipients of their services. This rewarding feedback loop is what excites me most about my career.”
About Kevin
Meet Kevin Matthews, Shawn’s identical twin brother. Kevin attended Georgia State University where he ran Cross Country and Track. Prior to joining Matthews Roofing he worked at Salesforce Maps, where he specialized in managing teams and optimizing business operations. In 2022, Kevin joined Matthews Roofing as a Sales and Marketing Coordinator. Kevin is now the driving force behind Matthews Roofing, acting as the current Owner and Operator of the company.

With heavy hearts, we commemorate the life and legacy of Shawn R. Matthews, the driving force behind Matthews Roofing.
Shawn’s path to roofing was deeply rooted in his commitment to innovation and ethical business practices. After graduating from West Georgia University with a degree in Physics, Shawn began his career as a Test Engineer at Environmental Simulations, where he honed his technical skills and developed a keen understanding of quality assurance.
In 2016, Shawn’s path led him to Peachtree Restorations in Atlanta, Georgia, where he assumed the role of Operations Manager. It was here that he cultivated his understanding of the symbiotic relationship between company culture and sustainable growth, laying the foundation for his future endeavors. In 2020, drawn by the allure of Delray Beach’s sunshine and vibrant community, Shawn followed his heart and founded Matthews Roofing. His vision was clear: to revolutionize an industry plagued by deceit and dishonesty. With unwavering determination, Shawn pledged to lead with honesty, transparency, and efficiency, setting a new standard for excellence in roofing services.
In 2022, Shawn was joined by his twin brother Kevin, who brought his expertise as the Marketing and Sales Director, further propelling the company towards excellence. Together, Shawn and Kevin were poised to fulfill their commitment to providing top-notch roofing solutions to the residents of Palm Beach County, leaving an indelible mark on the industry and the community they served.
Shawn will always be remembered for the richness of his character and the depth of his passions. Shawn’s kindness and generosity were evident in every interaction, he was the guy who gave you the shirt off of his back or his very last dollar. He had a love for cycling, and always had extra bicycles on hand to fit whomever he could convince to go for a ride. He was a collegiate track athlete, and loved going for a run with his friends. He was an avid fan of Formula 1 racing, particularly of the iconic Ferrari team. But perhaps most of all, Shawn will be remembered for his infectious smile, which radiated warmth and genuine happiness.
Though Shawn’s time with us was tragically cut short, his legacy lives on in every roof laid, every satisfied customer, and every life he touched. Matthews Roofing remains a testament to Shawn’s enduring spirit and his unwavering belief in the power of integrity and innovation to effect positive change.
